Lie detection at airports

Prof. Omerod's presentation at ATP16 centred on this study. A field experiment testing an 'anit-profiling' approach to airport security interviews that has showed a 60% detection rate compared to <5% for the alternative.Interesting side line: airpost security is carried out by minimum waged EAL staff who, on average, leave the job within 6 months. Those who were trained in 'CCE' for this study are apparently all still in the job 2 years later because this technique is not as soul

G543 A2 OCR Crime - detecting lies Vrij 2010

An interesting take on the 'detection of lies' issue. Not ideal for a 'bullet point' study, but interesting ... I stumbled across this one on Vrij's profile page. Laughed out loud at the end of the preamble about how it came to be not published [it has been since in another journal: The Journal of Psychiatry & Law, 38]. Elsewhere I've seen concern expressed about 'publisher bias' ~ in this instance Vrij does not seem to defer to the power of the publisher! This is aimed at A2 OCR G543

These study summaries were created by myself and another teacher (thanks Karen for the original proforma!) to give to A2 students studying OCR. As we are using two textbooks and not necessarily the study listed in the textbook we decided to do these so that students could keep a summary in their folders and did not get confused when different studies were mentioned in the book.
