Working in groups or individually, students use a developmental checklist of infant behaviours (similar to those used by midwives and health visitors) to identify different types of development - physical, cognitive, emotional, social etc. Can generate discussion of a range of developmental concepts, eg maturational stages, cognition/affect distinction, nature/nurture etc. Useful for introducing developmental units/topics of any specification.
