A straight answer which describes the use of EEG, PET and fMRI to ivestigate cogntive processes, mostly focuses on memory but chucks in a good study that can be used for SCLOA, CLOA cross over (gabrieli). Lots of research cited which examiners seem to like.

Here is sample question that could be used for IB Paper 3 HL. Its a study by Sue Wilkinson that was used as an example in the book by Jonathon Smith (2008) whre Wilksinson write a chapter on focus groups. The book is excellent and its called Qualitative Psychology: A practical guide to research methods. I have made up three questions.

Something fun for start of term to welcome back The IB Crowd, as I like to call them, of course with only 3 of them that is perhaps an exaggeration...anyway, show first slide with the Sarah Brightman memory track playing, then see how quickly they can recall all ten items, they will have to time themeslves with stopwatches. The show second slide with the scary car ad remix. Mine have seen the original already for a different activity so this just racks it up beyond compare! Yuo ned to make it

Something I threw together when studetns were revising the CLOA general learning objectives. Hope it might be helpful to someone. Model answers are always far too long and I am not an IB examiner so not sure whether this is the best ways to go about things, but its what we used!

A booklet I made during the revision period for the SCLOA; the models answers are very long as they were more for deomonstration purposes with pupils rather than realistically what they could write in the time allowed. Please note, I am not an IB examiner!

Families choose whether their male children will grow up as 'fafafini': that is men who live their lives as women. In Samoa if you act like a woman you are a woman and thus when men have a relationship with a fafaini it is considered to be heterosexual.

Paul resists authority here and it is useful for teaching about individual differences and the role of dispositional facotrs and well as situational ones. Useful then for IB.

If you teahc IB, this could be useful for teaching about dispositional explanations of behaviour. Again you may not wish to show whole clip but I like the bit where they look at the fact that many people who end up in the same job have similar personalities and then discussing reciprocal determinsim.

Classic film documenting the Rwanda Genocide of 1994. When do we ever get tiem to show a whole feature film? Never, for me, so here is the trailer and I have also uploaded one important clip as well where Paul resists the authority of the Hutu militia. Although situationalist accounts backed by evidence such as that provided by Zimbardo and Milgram help explain much behaviour, the role of personality and dispositional factors is still important for understanding the behaviour of the

Classic clip where Paul resists the authority of the Hutu militia. Although situationalist accounts backed by evidence such as that provided by Zimbardo and Milgram help explain much behaviour, the role of personality and dispositonal facotrs is still imporant for understanding the behaviour of the minority who are able to resist and to remain autonomous. I will be using this for IB learning outcome 1 from socio-cultural cognition (SCLOA) but also to evaluate agency theory with Edexcel.
