Often dreary to learn and remember, I used this little task with great success this year. I know AQA A no longer requires students to learn interval/ratio data separately, but other boards might and I included them because several of my bunch are heading to uni for psychology this year where they will have to learn all of them anyway. Comes with full instructions.

This helps my students to apply the appropriate statistical test. I give them various senarios, usually from past papers, and firstly get them to identify the experimental design and type of data. Once they have done this, they can apply the chart to find which test to use. They remember the order for experimental designs as 'rub my itchy chin' (Repeated measures, matched pairs, independent groups, correlations).

Levels of measurement game where pupils are read a scenario or similar and then have to choose which level of data is being described: nominal, ordinal, interval/ratio.  If you put up signs in class they have to choose where to stand and once everyone has made their choice you then read out the answer and they mark themselves on their own marksheet.  Good for active learning and helps with statistical test choice later.  Also provide the answers for them to learn from.

This is a ppt that introduces the levels of data and the statistical tests that we use. it just tells tham the criteria for choosing a test and does not tell them how to do the test. so... not too scary.
