It's a bit dry but useful as a supplement - covers MD hypothesis, obviously stress to students that this is not part of Bowlby's Attachement Theory

This is a rolling show with images that are designed to prompt students to recall details of the 44 thieves study. Yuo could have it play while they come in and give them five minutes to discuss in pairs and try and get as many details as possible .

This may look like a black screen but fear not, get your pupils to rub all over the screen with the smartboard marker and, as if by magic, photos and cartoons will appear each giving a clue to a detail of the procedure of the study.

Study notes to describe and evaluate 44 thieves study (one of the options for the second study in detail) which I have chosen as you have to evaluate maternal deprivation hypothesis so you might as well teach this. Is it just me or has the fatter book by Christine Brain not actually got the percentage of thieves who suffered prolonged separations??? It is late maybe I am missing something. I know them off by heart anyway and they are all included here! I have also uploaded a couple of

Just a speech bubble with image of Rutter so students can fill in what Rutter has to say about Bowlby's maternal deprivation hypothesis; not much but might save you a job! they can put it into their own words and help cement what you have taught them. there is alsoone on Bowlby and what he had to say about his own hypothesis.

I think I took this idea from a workshop with Matt Jarvis, so thanks Matt! Here are several statements each of which relate to a core idea from Bowlby's theory. It should be used having taught the entire topic (describe and evaluate). The pupils work in pairs or threes to discuss the extent to which they agree with each statement on the grounds of suppoting evidence, usefulness/applications, how complete the idea is (i.e do any other explanantions exist which describe the issue better).

Rutter explains how he agrees and disagrees with ome aspects of Bowlby's work. Probably more suitable for A2 than for AS as it requires a good knowledge of Bowlby's work.

My idea is ...for students to devise a play to perform to the class, using dolls from charity chops. they have to act out the implications of maternal deprivation, e.g. foster care, romanian orphans o ...
