I initially created this for my Yr 13 students- but may try it with my Yr 12. It is a consolidation exercise of the 3 main behavioural theories, where studernts have to fill in the gaps (Answers are also given). For stretch and challenge I got the more able students to apply the three concepts to explain initiation, maintenance and relapse in smoking behaviour

An often neglected side of Skinners work. It revolutionised psychology by industrialising research: get your lab assistant to train a bunch of rats, then you can run a room full of experiments all at once. You write it up and get the kudos, the lab assistants do all the smelly work. The lab assistant's contribution was key, but unsung. They had to create the behaviour that was then manipulated. This took longer than classical conditioning (typically less than a dozen associations, depending on

This video shows how B.F. Skinner used reinforcement principles to create "superstitions" in pigeons.  The same principles, he claimed, were responsible for superstitious beliefs in humans.

How do superstitions begin? Why do, for example, many baseball players preform certain rituals while at bat? Perhaps you've got your own lucky charms or curious behaviours you're not aware of. What does all this have to do with your bowling style? Find out in this episode of The Psych Files podcast.
