Another booklet - this time for the Relationships module of PSYA3. It's designed for the new spec (exams 2012 onwards) and includes a range of assessment questions and activities. The booklet is based on the Nelson Thornes A2 texbook and the accompanying Nelson Thornes A2 revision guide (which...in my opinion, is legendary!!).

Powerpoint describing and evaluating SET and the matching hypothesis of relationship formation. It is based on WJEC's spec but I have taught AQA A and apart from the end exam question example it is all relevant to AQA A also. I got students to apply SET to celebrity couples and to work out the CL's and CLalts . It worked really well and made it a bit more interesting!

Based on WJEC spec, but the theories studied etc are pretty much the same as AQA for formation. I use this at the end of teaching formation theories. The idea is the group form two teams and have to describe the projected wordby describing/ evaluating. After we have finished I go through and ask students to give me A01/A02 and A03 points for each slide.Great for all types of learners.

Students need to choose characters from a soap opera, tv show or film that they're really familiar with who are in a couple. The idea is for them to apply the filter model to this couple  and say how each filter would have worked for that couple to get together. Students also need to fill-the-gaps for the terms in brackets that relate to the filter model (field of availables, field of desirables, social and demographic, similarity, complementarity). Many thanks to Simon Knight, who's

Students have a description of Ross/Rachel get together from model perspective in 'every day language' they have to complete a (slightly modified) version where the everyday definition is taken out, and they must put in the 'specialist vocab'. I'm not sure how well these will work (in practice) but I like the idea.  I think a nice thing to do which would help them understand is to ask them to do something similar - write in 'every day language' and then in 'specialist vocab' about a real

Could use for 'relationship formation' (e.g. similarity [particularly of appearance] - George wants full hair...he's bald...which is why we find it funny), or for sexual selection (what we look for)
