A booklet I made during the revision period for the SCLOA; the models answers are very long as they were more for deomonstration purposes with pupils rather than realistically what they could write in the time allowed. Please note, I am not an IB examiner!

I do revision courses for IB Psychology where I have to cover the entire syllabus in roughly 16-20 hours. This is a PDF version of my powerpoint I use. The powerpoint is huge but I can arrange transfer of it along with the videos if anyone is interested. All the underlined stuff is evaluation so it's clear to the students. Videos had to be saved as pictures in the 1997-2003 format otherwise they exceeded 200MB.

A workbook to accompany the IB SCLOA section on Cultural Norms. It covers culture, cultural norms, individualism/collectivism and confucian dynamism as the two dimensions, emic and etic and also looks at cultural biases in psychology (which isn't officially part of this LO but is handy elsewhere). I have referecned Crane and pearsons as the amin tecxtbook sources, but also used Ting -Toomey which is available as a google book; Chapter 3 Value Orientations and Intercultural Encounters, p66-76.

A nice plain talking New York Times article which describes research by Phelps et al using brain imaging to map repsonses in the amygdala when looking at black and white faces. Great for SCLOA< CLOA, BLOA cross overs for all my IB friends. x:O)

An new study on conformity which improves upon some of the weaknesses of Asch (1951), this worksheet describes the study and is taken direct from BPS research digest and follows up with a list of discussion/hw questions, some of which are deliberately challenging as theyare for a very small IB class.

Having discussed the Brixton riots and the Howarth paper (also uploaded), we did this activity to think bout social identity and social representations. I got them to look at the Brixton map (one each), you could get a few laminated maybe? and then gave them one slip of paper each; one person was 'me' a kid from brixton; eahc of the others had to say what they would think about the kid from Brixton and how they migth act towards him or her and then 'the kid' had to dsay how they migth think,

When discussing the brixton race riots with my year 12 IB Psychologists I needed some extra concepts and so I created these flashcards; they had to match the theorist and the theory/concepts, I htink i got them to try and find what matched with what by huntigj through a selection of textbookm pages which I gave them and it was the first pair to match them all correctly that won; it was a good exercise in scanning text selectively.

This task sheet goes with the Howarth (2002) paper which I found online. The study is mentioned I think in John Crane's IB Psychology companion textbook so I had a hunt around and found the paper very interersting and challenging.

A rolling powerpoint of images that I used when we covered stereotyping, prejducie, social rpespresentations theory, social idneity theory etc in the Ib SCLOA but mathes up equally well as a real life key issue for A level. Eahc slide contnaisn a little bit of AO! description of what happended and a thought/discussion provoking question - some of them are deliberately pretty hard- this was an inspection lesson so it was great for differentiation. I played 'the guns of brixton' by the

Classic film documenting the Rwanda Genocide of 1994. When do we ever get tiem to show a whole feature film? Never, for me, so here is the trailer and I have also uploaded one important clip as well where Paul resists the authority of the Hutu militia. Although situationalist accounts backed by evidence such as that provided by Zimbardo and Milgram help explain much behaviour, the role of personality and dispositional factors is still important for understanding the behaviour of the

Classic clip where Paul resists the authority of the Hutu militia. Although situationalist accounts backed by evidence such as that provided by Zimbardo and Milgram help explain much behaviour, the role of personality and dispositonal facotrs is still imporant for understanding the behaviour of the minority who are able to resist and to remain autonomous. I will be using this for IB learning outcome 1 from socio-cultural cognition (SCLOA) but also to evaluate agency theory with Edexcel.
