I will be teaching the new AQA Sociology 'A' level for the first time in September and have a couple of questions. Firstly, in 10/20/30 mark responses should the students write an introduction and conclusion? Will they gain credit for these? Secondly, what are the AO1, AO2 and AO3 mark allocations for the 20 and 30 markers? I know that these responses will be marked holistically, however spotted that there are breakdowns for the 10 markers, so thought I would check!

Having just marked A2 paper 2 there is no expectation for intro in 10 markers. 20 and 30 mark essays need intro and conclusions.

There is a breakdown of AOs in the spec i think.

Thank you Sally - it's interesting that introductions and conclusions are a requirement in many subjects, yet not AQA Psychology.

In terms of AOs, the specification covers the weightings of AOs for each paper, but not for individual questions. Does anybody else know?

I think that is on the AQA website too. I tend to not look at them though because the examiners mark according to bands not individual AO breakdown's
