I was just wondering what your thoughts were on 16 mark essays at A Level in Psychology and conclusions?

I have always been under the impression (and training!) that for AQA conclusions are NOT NECESSARY and students shouldn't have marks deducted for not including these.

Can anybody shed some light please?

You're right they are not necessary for AQA, however, sometimes they improve the evaluation (only if they add to it and don't simply sum things up). It may help some students to remain focused on the question and produce thorough and effective evaluation to write a very brief conclusion. And after all it is good practice for when they get to university, as academic writing does need a valid conclusions.
