In response to feedback received at our Annual Conference, and our very successful one-day events, the ATP is running another CPD event. This event will be held Watford Grammar School for Boys on Saturday 10th March 2018, all at the very low cost of just £50 (for ATP members). The aim of the day is to provide high quality, low cost, CPD for psychology teachers and it will consist of interactive workshops, facilitated by experienced teachers on a variety of topics relevant to all specifications.  There will be plenty of opportunity to network with like-minded professionals.

Registration will be at 9.30am and the day will end at 3pm, light lunch and refreshments are included. We are delighted to announce that the following workshops and speakers have now been confirmed: -

1)  How to embed Mindfulness practices into your Psychology lessons – Harriet Ennis – Bootham School, York

2)  Lessons from EUROPLAT 2017 – Jock McGinty – Watford Grammar School for Boys

3)  Determinism and Reductionism – Telling Them Apart – Kevin Silber – University of Derby

4)   Flipping your classroom - demystifying the technology - Nick Serifin – Newcastle Under Lyme College

Hello Deb

Could you clarify what EUROPLAT is?  I have not attended a CPD event previously.

Also, it is the Edexcel syllabus that is taught at the school that I teach at and in your opinion, would such a course be the right one for me.  I live about a half an hour from Watford and so travel distance is very good.  thanks

The EUROPLAT 2017 conference held in Salzburg provided an opportunity for teachers from across the world to discuss evidence-based improvements for learning and teaching psychology. This workshop will focus on some personal favourites that cover areas such as the dysfunctional distribution of learning activities by students, the effect of written reflection tasks on students’ confidence and levels of correctness, learning through retrieval practice, the use of the testing effect in psychology and the purpose of tutorial groups in psychology. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss topics and reflect on ways to improve the learning and teaching of psychology at pre-tertiary level.

All of the workshops are designed not to be exam boards specific, so are relevant to Edexcel. We are just very fortunate that AQA and OCR subject officers have accepted our invitation to attend.
