Just seeking clarification about the summative content analysis for the clinical practical in Edexcel.  Does it have to be key words that are coded for?  Or can it be behavioural categories?  The textbooks seem to refer to key words/terms or content - but only use key terms in their examples.  My students are using video clips rather than writtten material, and so will be looking for particular behaviours rather than using the actual dialogue.  Thanks

Hi Jean,

The summative content analysis I did last year looked at words in a transcript of a two different films rather than behaviours. Transcripts are easy to come by online. I got the students to do a chi square with the results.

You don't have to do a stats analysis - just the content analysis. I have had groups do both behaviours in clips (looking at portrayal of mental health in cartoons) and using transcripts / blogs / newspapers.
